Georgian basketball player Shengelija will continue to play for Bologna “Virtus”

The Georgian national team player signed a three-year contract with CSKA in 2020 after six years of playing for Vitoria-Gasteiz “Baskonia”, which he left shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In less than two seasons in the Moscow team, the Georgian player became the champion of the United League and Russia once, was elected to the starting five of the United League All-Star Game and was named the most valuable player of the Euroleague twice.

After joining Virtus, he helped Bologna win the Italian championship, averaging 11.9 points in nine regular season games and 13.7 points in ten playoff games. In the Eurocup, he managed to play eight games, in which he scored an average of 8.1 points.

Shengelija could not help the Georgian national team in the final tournament of the European Championship, as she was injured shortly before.
