The Barça club announces the continuity of the young Andalusian midfielder for three more seasons, after having turned 18 in August

After long negotiations, Barça has finally tied up Gavi, already an absolute international and one of the great pearls of European football.

Once the Andalusian midfielder turned 18, on August 5, Barcelona was able to sign Gavi to a professional contract for more than three years. “There are some fringes to be resolved that will be resolved once the player turns 18, since until he does so he cannot sign a longer contract,” acknowledged Barça football director Mateu Alemany during the preseason, after closing the agreement Gavi renewal.

The culé international born in Los Palacios (Seville) made his debut with the Barcelona first team on August 29, 2012, when Roland Koeman directed the team, and has not stopped progressing, until becoming one of the essential pieces in the team now directed by Xavi Hernandez. With the selection of Luis Enrique he also became the youngest footballer to debut with the national team. Gavi’s contract ended in 2023, with a contract with the subsidiary, but from now on he will become a first team player for all purposes.
