According to information from the Italian side, the 32-year-old World Cup winner from the 2015/2016 season went for a bike ride on Wednesday, but lost her orientation in the terrain and did not return home. She still managed to send a message to her partner with an approximate description of where she was, but also with the information that her phone battery was low.
A search operation was immediately launched, but the files that arrived at their destination were not successful at first. It wasn’t until Thursday that rescuers heard a scream from a mountain near the lake in Livigno, focused on a specific smaller area and finally discovered Soukalová at an altitude of 2,270 meters. Although she spent the night outside, she was fine, the Italian website confirms.
