Erfurt boss rages after the cup

This cup failure really hurts Rot-Weiss Erfurt!

The euphoria after the great start to the season in the regional league has evaporated after the embarrassing 0:1 in Gera, and the Erfurt team have carelessly gambled away much-needed cup revenue.

The embarrassment really pisses off RWE boss Franz Gerber (68)!

Gerber: “The players don’t give much thought to where their wages will come from at the end of the month. But many don’t understand that they have to do something to bring in the money.”

The RWE boss announces austerity measures: “We depend on every euro and are not nearly as financially strong as others. That hurts twice as much. Now you have to see how to balance that. From an economic point of view, retiring is bad!”

The experienced football official also criticizes the attitude of the RWE players. Gerber: “It was clear that Gera would throw in everything they had to offer. Now that’s no surprise. If I deal with it a bit, I know what to expect.”

Gerber warns of the struggle for existence in the regional league: “The team is not so solid and does not have the potential to downplay it easily. Some players are not ready yet and others are reaching their limits in this league.”
