Sign against discrimination |
New in Qatar with “One Love” armband!
It should be a strong sign against discrimination and for human rights!
DFB captain Manuel Neuer (36) will wear a special captain’s armband in the coming international matches and also at the World Cup in Qatar.
At the last European Championships, Neuer wore a bandage in rainbow colors. It has long been discussed whether this will also be used in Qatar.
Neuer on the new bandage: “The love of football unites us all. No matter where we come from, what we look like and who we love. Football is for everyone. And football must be there for everyone who feels discriminated against and excluded, anywhere in the world. I am proud to send this message along with my fellow captains from other nations. Because every vote counts.”
The campaign is a joint action by the national teams from England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Wales, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany. The idea for this originated within the UEFA Working Group, which, at the initiative of a number of European national associations, is dealing with issues relating to human and labor rights in Qatar up to the 2022 World Cup and beyond.
The DFB also wants to draw attention to the difficult human rights situation in the World Cup host country with other campaigns. There have already been various workshops on the subject for the players recently.
