DAZN expands its range.

The sports entertainment platform DAZN takes over the international sports media business of the Eleven Group. The sports streamer announced this on Tuesday morning. Everything is already clear between the companies, but the takeover still has to be checked under antitrust law.

DAZN with a million dollar deal

Goal of the deal: The acquisition of Eleven Sports is expected to increase DAZN’s annual revenue by EUR 300 million. It was not initially known how much DAZN the takeover would cost.

The agreement would expand capacity in the live sports streaming sector, the company announced on Tuesday. As a result of the takeover, DAZN will become the broadcaster of the soccer leagues in Portugal and Belgium. DAZN boss Shey Segev.: “The acquisition gives our business more clout.”

Who is Eleven Sports?

Founded in 2015, the UK-based company is a multinational group of sports television channels that has primarily focused on acquiring sports rights in smaller countries. Eleven Sports is active with its own channels in Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States.

The company’s founder is Andrea Radrizzani, who is to become part of the DAZN board after the conclusion of the agreement.

Radrizzani, who also owns Leeds United, said of the acquisition: “We have built a successful sports media company with Eleven over the past six years and we are delighted that this journey continues. The merger will give us greater opportunities as a group to continue to build a global destination for sports fans, which has been our mission from day one.”
