Dallas Mavericks are considering signing Dennis Schroeder

The Dallas Mavericks are still looking for a ball handler. One option could be Dennis Schröder, who is still a free agent.

Like Marc Stein (Substack) reports, the Mavs are considering putting a point guard on their last roster spot. Dallas currently have 14 players on guaranteed contracts, plus one player on a two-way contract in Tyler Dorsey, who plays a strong EuroBasket for Greece.

In Dallas, however, they are still not sure whether the last squad position should really be occupied. On the other hand, one could take flexibility and would have to pay even more luxury tax through an obligation. The Mavs could also simply give younger players like Frank Ntilikina, Josh Green or Dorsey the chance to prove themselves as ball handlers.

However, with the departure of Jalen Brunson to New York, a need remains, even if the team has two good ballhandlers in Luka Doncic and Spencer Dinwiddie. Those responsible are currently in Cologne and not just to support superstar Luka Doncic.

According to Stein, Dennis Schröder has also been scrutinized, the captain of the German national team is said to be under consideration by the Mavs. According to Stein, other options include free agents Eric Bledsoe, Facundo Campazzo, Elfrid Payton and former Mavs pick Dennis Smith Jr., who continues to have a good relationship with Doncic.
