Councilors of Together gave the Honor of Citizen Merit to Lucas Díaz Aspiroz

This noon, councilors from the Together block participated in the delivery of the recognition of “Honor to Citizen Merit” to the Olympic paddler from Olavarri Lucas Díaz Aspiroz, who was part of the Argentine Canoeing Team, participated in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and the Paracanoeing World Cup in Copenhagen and is currently number 8 in the world in this sport.

The project to reward the athlete was presented at the HCD by the Together block and approved unanimously on September 23, becoming Resolution No. 098/21. At that time, Councilwoman Guillermina Amespil said that the athlete had an accident at the age of 19 and some time later he approached canoeing through the Student Club and hand in hand with his colleague Agustín Vernice.

The mayor highlighted that Lucas continued to train “tirelessly” during the pandemic and thus achieved a great participation in the Paralympics. “He is a source of pride in sports, an olavarriense who carries the name of the city high,” said Amespil.

Currently Lucas Díaz Aspiroz continues to perform in various sports activities and reaping achievements. Last July he became the national champion of Para-Badminton in his category.

Lucas represents an example for the inclusion of people with disabilities in sports and physical and personal improvement, which is expressed in his header phrase: “Life puts obstacles for you, you set the limits for yourself.”
