This Thursday the presentation of Corsarios was carried out with a simple, but emotional ceremony, where the team’s board, led by Paulo Simonetti, president, and Iván Simancas, institutional manager, announced to the media the squad of Creoles and foreigners who will be defending the colors of La Heroica in this national contest, organized by the Professional Basketball Division.

Simoneti spoke in the first instance of the discomfort generated by the fact that Corsarios has to play in Barranquilla because the Bernardo Caraballo Coliseum does not meet the technical conditions requested by the Professional Basketball Division for television broadcasts.

“We are the most interested in Corsarios playing in Cartagena in front of our public. Unfortunately it is not possible and we hope that next year, with the help of the Government, we will be able to play here in our city”, said Paulo Simonetti after explaining in detail the technical flaws that the stage presents.

The director stressed that for this season Corsairs has assembled a squad of good Creole players who give strength to the team and foreigners will be the complement of the former.

He also indicated that the club is carrying out social work with some of the players since it has given three jobs in some of the city’s companies.

The Creole squad that was presented is as follows: John Hernández, Samir Vizcaíno, Jáner Pérez, Jimmy Ballesteros, Rodolfo Cañate, Emil Williams Méndez, Juan Sebastián Márquez, Jeison Toro, Andrés Salazar and Andy Cabarcas.

This Friday the three foreign reinforcements are expected. They are: Troy Jones (USA power forward), Travis Atson (USA forward) and Logan Santiago (Puerto Rico point guard). A fourth foreigner is pending that the board will name in the coming days.
