Champions League: PSG signs a first victory against Wisla Plock

Paris Saint-Germain handball opened their counter to victories in the Champions League, winning 37-33 this Wednesday in their den of Coubertin against the Poles of Orlen Wisla Plock, during the second day of the group stage. During the first day, the Parisians lost 36-34 to Veszprem, vice-champion of Hungary.

But this time, they were not surprised by the Poles, surprise winners of the last Polish Cup against Kielce, and who had won their first match against Porto (27-23). First down, Nikola Karabatic (7 goals at 100%) and his teammates were able to take over the game on their own in the first period, thanks in particular to a flamboyant Kamil Syprzak (9 goals out of 10 attempts) to lead 18-16 to the break.

They were then able to widen the gap after returning from the locker room, counting up to 7 goals in advance, to finally win their first victory of the European campaign, without however being completely convincing (37-33). The two goalkeepers Andreas Palicka (4 out of 23 saves) and Jannick Green who was back (0 out of 14) were not at the party,

This success allows the Parisians to occupy 3rd place in Group A for the moment, two points behind leader Veszprem. Eliminated in the quarter-finals last season, PSG will have to continue this momentum and be even more incisive during the third day trip to Magdeburg (Germany) on September 28, to hope to qualify for the finals.
