In June we introduced you to the Road to Elite series, a magnificent dive into the daily lives of future French basketball hopefuls. Available on Betclic’s YouTube channelthe series allowed us to meetIshmael Kamagate, Juhann Begarin, Matthew Strazel, Matthew Gauzin, Milan Barbitch et Yoan Makoundou. The cameras followed them in their progression, their season in Betclic Elite and their preparation for the NBA draft.
In this fifth episode which has just been released, we come back to the clash in the 1/4 final between Yoan Makoundou’s Cholet Basket and Matthew Strazel’s ASVEL. We discover how the summer has been rhythmic for our nuggets that flew to the USA. Everyone looks back on their news and their new season in Betclic Elite.

NBA draft and big contracts, the future belongs to them!
As a reminder, Ismaël Kamagate was selected 46th in the NBA Draft last June by the Pistons (then sent to Denver) but, like his teammate Juhann Begarin (drafted 45th in 2021 by the Celtics), he chose to remain a another season at Paris Basketball to the delight of the leaders and the coaching staff of the capital.
Yoan Makoundou was not selected for the Draft but he quickly bounced back by signing a 4-year contract with Monaco. He will play alongside Matthew Strazel who is therefore leaving ASVEL for the principality club, while Milan Barbitch has decided to join Fos-sur-Mer.
After a lackluster season, 2018 U17 world vice-champion Matthieu Gauzin has decided to leave MSB to join BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque. Thanks to a studious summer during which he worked on his technique and strengthened himself a lot physically, he says he is ready to explode. We can’t wait to see this!
