Basketball: NBA coach Ime Udoka faces suspension after affair

Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka faces a lengthy ban, according to media reports. Apparently due to an amicable relationship with a Celtics employee, the 45-year-old is threatened with a suspension for the entire 2022/2023 season.

As US media reports, Udoka is said to have violated the guidelines of the traditional organization with the relationship. The relationship was deemed a “violation of the franchise’s code of conduct,” according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

ESPN reports that the penalty will be officially announced on Thursday. According to the sports magazine, assistant coach Joe Mazzulla is probably a promising candidate for the role of interim coach in the coming season.

Udoka has been in a relationship with American actress Nia Long since 2010, who is best known for her role as Lisa Wilkes in the series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The couple has been engaged since 2015 and they are parents of a 10-year-old son.

The 45-year-old led Boston to the finals for the first time since 2010 last season. With national player Daniel Theis, who has now moved to the Indiana Pacers, the Celtics lost to the Golden State Warriors (2:4). (sid/js)
