Badminton is a racket sport in which two players face off in singles badminton or two pairs face off in doubles badminton. It is played on a rectangular court divided by a net.
To play badminton you use a penalso called steering wheel o cocky instead of a ball as in tennis and other racket sports. The pen has an open conical shape, the cone is made up of sixteen pens inserted around a hemispherical cork base covered with a thin layer of leather.
Players must hit the feather with their rackets so that it crosses the court above the net, which is higher than in tennis as it is 1.55 meters high. If the feather touches the ground, the team whose side it landed on has lost the point.
Badminton has been an Olympic sport since Barcelona 1992. There are 5 modalities: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. In the latter, the couple is made up of a man and a woman.
Asian countries are world powers in this sport, such as China, Indonesia and South Korea, although one of the best players in the world is Spanish, it is about Carolina Marín who competes in the women’s individual badminton category and reached number 1 in the BWF world ranking.
