ATP, Laver Cup > Federer on his relationship with Nadal: “I don’t know how we got here. Since I have children, it has changed me in a way, our rivalry has evolved”

Roger Federer called Rafael Nadal ten days before the start of the tournament. He absolutely wanted to play the last match of his career with his Spanish rival and friend, whom he faced 40 times (for 16 victories), in the biggest tournaments on the planet. Their rivalry may be one of the greatest in history, but the two champions get along wonderfully.

The Swiss spoke about this special relationship at a press conference.

“I don’t know how we got here all these years, we’ve always been very connected, especially the last ten years. And then since I have children, it has changed me in a certain way, our rivalry has evolved, I don’t know. I’m happy where I am now, I can call Rafa and talk about everything, I hope he feels the same, even if we don’t often. Having Rafa’s family here shows that everything is going well, you can feel his passion, in that sense we are very connected. I think he feels the same when he sees my parents, my wife or my children, it’s a good thing. We really enjoyed each other’s company, we have a lot to remember, but we also enjoyed it. We have a million things to talk about, every night we spend together I feel like we never have enough time. »
