The 35-year-old Messi was in full swing at the Hard Rock Stadium from the opening whistle. The Paris Saint-Germain striker had already played the action leading to the first goal: in the 16th minute he found Papa Gómez, who passed to the scoring Lautaro Martínez.
Messi scored other goals himself. He converted a penalty after a foul on Giovani Lo Celso in first-half stoppage time and lobbed past the Honduras goalkeeper in the 69th minute to set up the final score.
On Tuesday, the Argentinians will face Jamaica in New Jersey in the next preparation. Saudi Arabia awaits them in the first World Cup match on November 22.
