AC Milan offers the derby thanks to Leao and Giroud

The Rossoneri dominated their neighbors Inter this Saturday, at San Siro, during the 5th day of Serie A.

Rafael Leao, with a magnificent double, and Olivier Giroud, the man of major events, tipped in favor of AC Milan, champions still hungry, a spectacular derby on Saturday against Inter (3-2) , already beaten twice in five days.

Celebrated at the end of the meeting in front of the 75,000 spectators of a boiling San Siro, with a communion reminiscent of that of the 19th scudetto pocketed in May, this success allows the undefeated Rossoneri to temporarily take the lead (11 pts). “We wanted to celebrate all together, we have a fantastic group, with a great cohesion“, Savored Giroud on DAZN, after this victory which marks in the most beautiful way the new era of the rossonero club, passed this week officially in the hands of the American fund RedBird for some 1.2 billion euros.

Already crowned king of Milan last season with a double in the derby (2-1), a match which had revived Milan in a title race then dominated by Inter, the Frenchman still managed a decisive gesture when everything remained open, at 1-1. With a cross recovery from the left, he put the Milanese in front on a cross from Leao (54th).

Leao’s big night

The young Portuguese striker (23) is the great hero of the evening with, in addition to this pass, a high-class double. He first equalized in the 28th minute, preventing AC Milan from doubting too much after Marcelo Brozovic opened the scoring with a cross shot from the right (21st). And above all, he capsized San Siro by signing the 3-1 after a stunning number in the area, confirming the ever greater dimension he is taking on in this young team.

The Nerazzurri, a little stunned by this reversal of the situation, had the merit of not letting go and reopening the match thanks to Edin Dzeko (67th) and pushing until the end. But they saw their attempts repelled by a Mike Maignan of the great days, author of three decisive parades during an intense second period. Interist coach Simone Inzaghi regretted a “half hour blackout” of his troops after the equalizer of the Rossoneri, considering that the three goals conceded were “goals you can’t afford to concede in a derby».

This defeat confirms the defensive fragility of Inter at the start of the season, after the three already suffered against Lazio Rome (1-3). And this as Bayern Munich and their offensive armada in the Champions League advance on Wednesday at San Siro. Juventus also did not prepare as well as possible for their big European meeting on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes, against PSG, by conceding their third draw in five days on the field of Fiorentina (1-1).
