3×3: Three international challenges for Latvian basketball players on the first weekend of September

From September 2 to 4, three Latvian 3×3 basketball teams will compete in prestigious international tournaments.

From September 2 to 4, the final tournament of the European U17 Championship will be held in Athens. The Latvian U17 national team (born in 2005) will also compete in the boys competition, which successfully competed in the qualification tournament in Šolnok in early August.

The Latvian team will play in the final tournament with the same composition: Jānis Censonis (Jēkabpils), Edvards Egle (BJBS “Rīga”/A.Kraukļa VEF BS), Kristians Artis Pastors (Salaspils) and Toms Markuss Salnājs (Ventspils “Spars”).

12 teams will participate in the competition, which are divided into four groups in the first stage. The Latvian team will enter the fight on Saturday, September 3. At 5:50 p.m. a match with French juniors, at 7:45 p.m. – with the Croatian team. The two best teams will enter the quarter-finals, and on Sunday, September 4, they will play with one of the units of Group A (Lithuania, Estonia, Greece).

On the other hand, in Montreal from September 2 to 4, the women’s world series stage and the Masters tournament for men’s teams will take place.

The women will go into battle already on Friday, September 2. Latvia will be represented by Paula Strautmane, Ilze Jākobsone, Marta Mishčenko and Anita Miķelsone, our team is ranked number 10. At 21:40 Latvian time they will have to play with the Spanish national team, and at 1:40 with the German team “Dusseldorf ZOOS”. The two best teams, Latvian time, will fight in the elimination tournament on Sunday night.

On Saturday, September 3, for the first time this season, the whole quartet of Olympic champions – Nauris Miezis, Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis, Agnis Čavars and Edgars Krūmiņš – will compete in the Masters tournament as part of “Rīga”. “Rīga” was published with number 1. In the group tournament, at 7:45 p.m., a match with the Polish “Lublin”, at 9:30 p.m. – with the American team “Omaha”. Quarter finals on Sunday evening.

For men, this will be the last test before the European Championships, which will be held in the Austrian city of Graz from September 9 to 11.
