1-2. Hüesler-Stricker give Switzerland the advantage over Ecuador

Guayaquil (Ecuador), Sep 18 (EFE).- Marc Andrea Hüesler and Dominic Stricker put Switzerland ahead 1-2 this Sunday, by beating Ecuadorians Gonzalo Escobar 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 and Diego Hidalgo in the Davis Cup World Group 1 dispute in the Ecuadorian resort of Salinas.
The Swiss needed more than two hours to win in a hard-fought match in which the Ecuadorians had the encouragement of their fans at the Salinas Golf and Tennis Club.
The first point of the series was won on Saturday by Hüesler 6-4 and 6-2 over the local number two, Roberto Quiróz.
The only point, so far for Ecuador, was achieved by Emilio Gómez, also beating Switzerland’s number two, Henri Laaksonen, 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday.
After the doubles match, the local number one, Emilio Gómez, will immediately face the number one from Switzerland, Marc Andrea Hüesler, and the final match will also be played this Sunday by the number two, Roberto Quiróz, from Ecuador and Henri Laaksonen , from Switzerland.
