Young people who have emerged as the promises of Guatemalan sports in 2022

In recent years, new talents have emerged in the Guatemalan sport That outline to represent the country in major competitions for years to come. Here is a list of the youths athletes who are currently considered to be promises in each of its sports disciplines in this 2022.

Athletics

  • Mariandree Chacon (17 years old): She is a sprinter from Zacapa who already holds the two absolute national records of 100 and 200 meters. She has participated in two World Under-20 Athletics Championships.

  • Joseph Ortiz (22 years old): This walker has already won two junior world medals and recently participated in the Tokyo Olympics.

Motoring

  • matthew larena (18 years): has participated in the 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as setting two Guinness World Records. He currently races for the official Lamborghini team in the Italian Endurance Championship.

  • Ian Rodriguez (22 years old): He has won races in Formula 4 and Formula 3. He currently competes in the Le Mans Cup and is looking to make the jump to the ELMS Championship, looking to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Cycling

  • Sergio Chumil (21 years old): This cyclist from Chimaltenango is competing in Spain with the Aluminum Cortizo team, looking to make the professional leap.

Basketball

  • Natalia Larranaga (19 years old): star of the U-16 Central American Tournament in 2018 and currently plays in the United States, with the Florida National University team.

  • Olaver Camacho (21 years old): player from Santa Rosa who is also showing his talent in North America. He recently signed with the Texas A&M International University MBB team.

Baseball

  • Sebastian Barrios (17 years old): He is a pitcher who officially signed with the Seattle Mariners, seeking to become the first Guatemalan in the MLB.

Bowling

  • diego aguilar (19 years old): He has won all possible medals at the youth level, being Central American and Caribbean champion, and Pan American.

  • Kreestel Fraatz (21 years old): she is multiple Central American youth champion and was recently proclaimed in the senior category. She is currently training in Germany with the aim of raising her level.

Gym

  • Daniella Gonzalez: (14 years old): This rhythmic gymnastics athlete has a great future in the sport and she showed it in the last Junior Pan American Championship, with an 8th place.

Judo

  • Sheily López (19 years old): she is a judoka originally from Jalapa who has won several medals in Pan American Cups and the most recent was at the first Junior Pan American Games.

swimming

  • Lucero Mejia (14 years old): At her young age, she has already established herself as the best junior in Central America and the Caribbean, in addition to having most of the national records in her category.

  • Robert Bonilla (17 years old): he is a swimmer who is completing his sports training in the United States. He comes from winning two medals at the Junior Pan American Games.

  • Deborah Dominguez (18 years old): This tennis player has won several international titles at her young age, managing to participate in different circuits in Europe.
