Jimena Ayllón and Sara Muñoz Dominate National Badminton Tournament

Jimena Ayllón was a couple with Sara Muñoz, from the Burgos Badminton Club, in what was the first time they did it together. The quality of both made them win one of the most important tournaments on the national calendar without giving up a single set. In this way, Jimena adds her second National Master of the season.

The other participant from Soria, Aarón Barrera, was just short of the podium in the men’s doubles draw, losing in the quarterfinals. As happened to Jimena, he competed in the test with Guillermo Valdés from Vigo.

If the previous test was held over the weekend, Isabel Corchón and María González went to Palencia where the territorial test for under-17 and under-13 categories was held in which both managed to win medals.

Bad luck brought about that, after both of them passed the group stage, they had to face each other in the quarterfinals of the individual category. The victory fell to María who, after being defeated in the semifinals, won the bronze medal.

The same situation occurred in the women’s doubles category, with both women meeting in the semifinal round with their respective partners.

Once again, fortune smiled on María González until she became runner-up in the event.

Finally, Sunday was the date for another Basque territorial tournament in the town of Durana in Álava with the presence of three players from Soria. It was especially fruitful for the Peñaranda brothers since Jorge won the gold in both men’s singles and men’s doubles together with David Manzano from Estella. And Ana, also with the Navarrese player, won the mixed doubles event. To these triumphs were added the bronze medals of Ana Peñaranda in the singles and those of Álvaro Sanz in both singles and men’s doubles.
