Gundars Vētra, head coach of the Latvian women’s basketball team, shared his thoughts after the national team’s test matches against South Korea and Japan.

“We improved our performance from game to game. Today we managed without long “falls”, but we managed a good breakthrough in the second half. We gained the lead, but in our current condition and limited rotation, we lacked the strength to defend it. It’s a pity that we didn’t manage to win, but overall a very worthwhile trip for all the players, which probably outweighs half a year of training. Those who want to will be able to draw conclusions,” emphasized the coach.

Thanks to the Basketball Union, as well as the Japan and Republic of Korea Basketball Federations for this opportunity, thanks to the players for their response. These four weeks have been very productive, helping the team to prepare for the next battles,” Vētra is confident.

During the Asian tour, Latvia lost to Japan with 48:74, and twice recognized the superiority of South Korea – 55:56 and 66:71. The team’s next match is scheduled for November 27, when Latvia will host Israel in the European Championship qualifier.
