West Ham will pay a record sum for the Brazilian. I admire him, says coach Moyes

West Ham footballers were strengthened by midfielder Lucas Paquetá from Lyon. The 25-year-old Brazilian will be the most expensive signing in the club’s history: according to the British media, United will pay Olympique 36.5 million pounds (1 billion crowns) for him, with possible bonuses in the amount of another 14.4 million pounds (414 million crowns).

The amount should thus surpass the record £45m West Ham spent on striker Sébastien Haller in 2019. Paquetá signed a five-year contract with the option for another season in the new club, for which Czech representatives Vladimír Coufal and Tomáš Souček play.

“He’s a player I’ve admired for a long time, and of course we saw him very closely last season in the Europa League,” West Ham coach David Moyes recalled of the quarter-final clash with Paquet’s Lyon, from which the London team emerged victorious.

Pauquetá played one season for AC Milan after arriving in Europe in 2019, and has been with Lyon since 2020. He played 33 games for the Brazilian national team and won the Copa América in 2019.
