Vuelta is no fun for Henri Vandenabeele: “Coming out is the maximum achievable” | Vuelta

Henri Vandenabeele’s first professional year is provisionally determined by illness and other unlucky moments.

In this Vuelta he always finishes in the last row, also in his favorite terrain: the mountains.

“It’s not going great, but that was to be expected,” says the climber from DSM.

“I have been bad for a few weeks after a corona infection and I only had one decent training week for this Vuelta.”

“My legs are full and riding out is the maximum possible,” says Vandenabeele, who is already longing for Monday’s rest day.

“Yes, it is frustrating, but it is true. It is not the first time this year that this has happened to me after a flu in Catalonia and a corona variant in the Dauphiné. Although you do have the feeling that you are working for nothing.”
