Veolia Towers sign Ziga Samar on loan from Alba Berlin

Basketball Bundesliga team Veolia Towers Hamburg has brought in another player in Ziga Samar. As announced by the Hanseatic League on Friday, the 21-year-old guard will be loaned out by champion Alba Berlin for a year. There will be a quick reunion for Samar, because Alba and the Towers will open the season on September 28th in the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, as the basketball Bundesliga announced on Friday.

We are happy to have found a solution with Alba to take Ziga to the next level. He has Euroleague potential, said Towers chief executive Marvin Willoughby of Samar, who is in the extended Slovenia squad.

Ziga is a great point guard who, despite his young age, plays very maturely and ripped off, said head coach Raoul Korner. He is rightly regarded as one of Europe’s brightest playmaker talents and we see him as the perfect complement to McCullum.

Zigar Samar was signed by the Berliners just two weeks ago for four years. We are convinced that Hamburg is the right stopover for Ziga to develop and prepare for the EuroLeague level. With the Towers he can gain valuable experience in the BBL and in the EuroCup in a larger role, explained Alba sports director Himar Ojeda.
