Petkovic loses and ends career
It was actually her last dance on the big tennis stage.
Andrea Petkovic (34) loses in the first round of the US Open against Belinda Bencic (25 / Switzerland) in three sets 2: 6, 6: 4, 4: 6.
The German had announced that she would end her career after the tournament. Now came the early end against the Olympic champion from Tokyo. While Bencic dominated the first set, Petkovic fought his way back into the game and took the second set. But unfortunately nothing helped.
After 2:12 hours, Bencic converted the first match point.
