The luge sports stage in Innsbruck, which was canceled due to football, will be replaced by a competition in Winterberg – Winter sports – Sportacentrs.com

The first stage of the World Cup in luge sports was planned to be held in Innsbruck on November 26 and 27, but at that time the final tournament of the World Cup in football will take place in Qatar, and for this reason the first stage of luge sports will not be broadcast live on television. The FIL board decided to make changes to the season calendar and not to hold a stage on the last weekend of November.

The start of the season is now planned from December 2 to 4 on the same Innsbruck circuit where the first two stages of the World Cup were supposed to be held, but now only one stage will take place. After that, the athletes will go to North America, where from December 8 to 10 there will be a stage in Whistler, Canada, and from December 15 to 17 – a stage in Park City, USA.

In the continuation, there will be an almost month-long break, with the athletes competing on the Sigulda track in Latvia from January 6 to 8. A week later in Lillehammer, Norway, there will be the sixth stage of the World Cup season, which will also be the European Championship.

From January 27 to 29 in Oberhof, luge riders will fight for prizes in the world championship, but later they will stay there in Germany, where the next two stages of the World Cup will be in Altenberg from February 3 to 5 and Winterberg from February 10 to 12. Next weekend will be the eighth stage in St. Moritz, Switzerland, but the end of the season is now planned a week later in Winterberg, where the athletes will compete again from February 24 to 26.
