The Latvian U18 women’s basketball team’s quarter-finals are in sequence

In the first quarter, the initiative was on one team’s side, then on the other’s side, and in general, the battle was on an equal footing. The Latvian coaching staff made extensive use of player rotation and ten basketball players were already on the court in ten minutes played.

The scene did not change significantly in the second quarter either – the match went point by point. The Italian lions scored court points with long shots, but ours successfully scored from under the basket with patient attacks.

The break in the match happened in the middle of the third quarter, when the opponents achieved 50-41 after an eight-point breakthrough. In the opening ten minutes of the decisive match, the Italian lead increased to 12 points, but five minutes before the final whistle, the winner was already known. Italy reached 69:50 and safely fought to victory.

Latvians had better free throw accuracy (88%/50%), as well as a more successful fight for rebounds (43:37). On the other hand, the Italian women had more assists (20:12) and excellent statistics in long shots (52%/12%).

Raina Tomašicka was the top scorer in the Latvian national team with 20 points, while Luize Sila collected 12 points and five rebounds.
