The classic summer basketball league reaches its halfway point

On July 12, the classic basketball summer league began, which had been suspended for the previous two years due to covid. The summer league is already a classic: it started rolling back in 1985 with the help of Tomelloso Basketball Clubwho was then presiding Andres Naranjo, and has been celebrated almost every summer. During the last editions, the organization had been between the CB Tomelloso and the veterans club AVEBAS. This year it has been possible to organize thanks to the individual work of Daniel Bonillo Díazplayer of CB Tomelloso. The league format is as follows:

The league is made up of 7 teams:

– friendly

– CB ZA

– Don Nino

– CB Chickens

– Santineta (Socuéllamos)

– Money Makers (Argamasilla and Tomelloso)

– Pick & Roll Centro Tractor

In this case, the league has 8 weeks of competition, 7 regular weeks, which are played every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August. In addition, one last playoff, which will be played on Monday, August 22 and Tuesday, August 23, with Monday being a triangle between the last 3 classified, Tuesday 3rd and 4th place, and the final between the 1st and 2nd classified.

The schedules of the regular league matches are as follows:

Mars: a single turn. The game begins at 9:00 p.m.

Thursday: 2 turns. The 1st starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 2nd shift at 9:45 p.m.

As there are 7 teams, one rests every week and each team plays 2 Tuesdays and 4 Thursdays, distributing the schedules equally.

The matches are made up of 4 quarters of 12′ at a running clock. The clock never stops except in the event of an injury or a lot of time is wasted when pointing out a fault to the scorers’ table, which is carried out by the teams in the competition. The organization of the league appoints a couple of referees for each match.

1st day

1st Party:

The opening match of the 2022 Summer League was played by the two teams with “foreign” representation, since it was the match between Santineta vs. Money Makers, with representatives from Socuéllamos and Argamasilla de Alba, respectively. Due to the absence of players in the socuellamino squad, the match was played 4×4, with a very tight result in favor of Money Makers.

2nd Party:

Match of the 1st shift on Thursday that was played by CB Pollos vs. Don Niño. Game with a very poor result where Don Niño’s defense was a wall with players who exceed 2 meters for the young Tomelloseros that make up CB Pollos. For his part, he did not carburize the attack of Don Niño, who missed many released shots with good percentages. If they improve this section they are a clear contender for the title.

In the second shift on Thursday, Los Simpaticos and CB ZA began their journey in the competition. Game without much history, since the CB ZA team only had 5 players and at the stroke of half-time they were left with 4 after a fortuitous injury. Already in the second part the Nice ones imposed their best physique and quality and without much effort they defeated their opponent.

2nd Matchday

1st Party:

This Tuesday Pick & Roll Centro Tractor began its start in the Summer League, since it was the team that had to rest in the first instance, and they faced Don Niño. Match with a lot of contact from the first moment, where none of the teams took large rents on the scoreboard to be able to relax. The best management and success in the final moments gave the narrow victory to Don Niño.

2nd Party:

Thursday shift 1. It was played by two teams that did not know the victory: CB ZA vs. Santineta. CB ZA continued to have staffing problems, since there were only 6 players who played the match against the entire squad of the Socuellamino team. Match with a lot of success from outside by both teams, especially the away team. But where CB ZA knew how to impose his defense in the zone, his greater experience and his inside game, for which he took the victory with a comfortable distance on the scoreboard.

3rd Party:

The last match of the second day was played by Simpaticos vs. CB Pollos. Gray game by the two squads, since they were lacking in success, but the greater experience, quality and physique by the Nice ones made them win with a poor score and where the level of the players who jumped into the game was not shown. court.

3rd Day

1st Match:

Turn of one of the favorites, the Nice ones against Money Makers. First match where the Nice ones imposed their dominance on the field with their great defense in the zone and their vertiginous transitions, only from the 6.75 line Money Makers tried that the distance in the electronic did not increase in practically each attack of the rival team.

2nd Match:

The third day started with an interesting match between CB Pollos and Pick & Roll Centro Tractor. The game started out very competitive and they only got rents on the Pick & Roll Centro Tractor scoreboard, but the greater physical capacity of the youngsters from CB Pollos turned the scoreboard around. With only a few seconds left in regulation time and only winning by 3 points, CB Pollos unnecessarily fouled when a player from Pick & Roll Centro Tractor made a 3-point shot, and with a lot of cold blood he scored the 3 free throws that tied the game with the clock at 0. An extra time of 5 minutes had to be played to elucidate the winner of the match, where the greater experience of Pick & Roll Centro Tractor prevailed in the final score.

3rd Match:

Another of the teams that do not know defeat, Don Niño, played with the always depleted CB ZA. Against all odds, the start of CB ZA was very good and had favorable returns on the scoreboard. But during the match with Don Niño’s zonal defenses, and noticing the physical loss of playing only 5 players in CB ZA, the scoreboard was turned around and Don Niño added another victory to his locker.

Unfortunately, these two games on Thursday were surrounded by a lot of protests and bad behavior by some players. We hope that everyone reconsiders and understands that the work of the referees is not easy, especially when the people who offer to whistle are not professional and try to lend a hand so that the League is possible.

MATCHDAY 4

1st Match:

The match that opened the 4th day was played by 2 teams that are direct rivals in the standings. Pick & Roll Center Tractor and CB ZA. Once again with 5 players from CB ZA, it seems that it was enough in the first half where they managed +25 points on the scoreboard, and where Pick & Roll Centro Tractor could not find solutions on either of the 2 boards. Starting the second half, an injury to CB ZA left the team with only 4 players. Pick & Roll Centro Tractor took advantage of this situation, getting only 1 point behind, but they did not know how to materialize the comeback, and the good reading in the final minutes and the counterattacks gave victory to CB ZA.

2nd Match:

Turn for Santineta and Simpaticos. Match very similar to that of the third day for the Simpaticos, where they once again deployed all their weapons on the San José track. On the part of the Santineta, the boys from Socuéllamos showed courage and foreign success to try that the final income was not very wide.

3rd Match:

Don Niño and Money Makers closed the fourth day. The match in the first half was comfortable for Don Niño, although he did not have enough distance to break the match. Entering the second half, the desire and momentum of Money Makers made them very close on the scoreboard. Although finally Don Niño won the victory.
