Tertre: a day of change of scenery for 120 young people placed

These are children who, no doubt, will keep smiling all day long and having memories in their heads. The Rotary Mons-Borinage interclub will indeed organize a day of meeting and cohesion between different institutions housing young people in difficulty on September 14 at the Dock 79 leisure park, located in Tertre. The objective being to offer them a day of adventure and escape, far from the daily worries.

For more than 110 years, Rotary members have worked to improve living conditions around the world through numerous humanitarian projects. It is with this in mind that the Rotary Mons Borinage interclub decided to organize a meeting day for nearly 120 young people residing in 12 institutions in the region. This special day will allow these young people, aged 7 to 18, as well as their educators, to share a moment of escape in nature and to forge links.

With a choice of activities as varied as tree climbing, ski lift or aquapark, Dock 79 seemed to be the ideal place. Paul Neutelings, president of the Interclub Rotary Mons-Borinage, and all the members of Rotary quickly wanted to make this idea of going out a reality. “Children and young teenagers will enjoy the Accrobranche for an afternoon, an adventure course in the trees that will test the courage of young climbers and awaken their sense of cohesion”, we underline on the side of the Rotary Mons-Borinage.

“When Paul contacted us, we immediately joined this great initiative”explains Alice Costa, co-founder of Dock 79. “In the future, we would like to work more with social actors in the region in order to offer children who do not have the opportunity to go on vacation or practice a sporting activity, a unique adventure and immersion in nature. .” Remember that the leisure park still has many projects under development, including the opening of a bouldering room (one of the branches of rock climbing) in a few months.
