Lewandowski’s era at Bayern ends in harmonious talks. The world footballer returns to Säbener Straße one last time and talks to sporting director Salihamidzic.

World footballer Robert Lewandowski’s last visit to his old place of work at FC Bayern Munich lasted around two hours.

Before the Polish national player finally ended his most successful football chapter to date and sped away in the red sports car, he had a clarifying conversation with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. “Everything is okay. I met everyone and can now go with a clean heart,” the 33-year-old told Sky TV.

The noisy change of the former Munich star striker to FC Barcelona ends apparently forgiving. The disagreements with Salihamidzic, who described his emotional state as “emotionless” before the meeting, are said to have been resolved. “Last week was complicated for everyone. However, I will never forget what has happened here for the last eight years,” said the Pole.

Before his return to Säbener Strasse, Lewandowski had again criticized the behavior of those responsible at FC Bayern in the course of his move and spoke of “a lot of politics”. Salihamidzic then reacted with incomprehension: “I can’t understand what he’s said in the last few days. My dad taught me not to shut the door with my butt when I go somewhere,” said the 45-year-old year olds.

Emotional farewell

There was no talk of new blame on Tuesday – on the contrary. “It’s sad,” Lewandowski replied when asked how he felt after saying goodbye to ex-colleagues and employees. “It was an emotional moment and also a difficult moment for me, it’s not that easy,” said the attacker, for whom Bayern received well over 40 million euros a year before the end of the contract.

For Lewandowski, his last visit to Munich was also a journey through his successful eight-year past in the Reds jersey. As reported by “Bild”, the top striker is said to have taken farewell photos with all the trophies he had won in the Allianz Arena on Monday. Eight times German champion, three DFB Cup winners and one Champions League winner is the brilliant Lewandowski yield on the Isar. After 344 goals in 375 competitive games, the chapter is finally closed.

“I’ll never forget what I got here,” said Lewandowski while being said goodbye to a few supporters on Säbener Strasse. “The fans have always been very important to me. That will stay in my heart forever.”
