Pujols hit 690 home runs in MLB

The Dominican Albert Pujols, figure of the St. Louis Cardinalsshook a Grand Slam this Thursday afternoon to reach 680 home runs in the Major Leagues (MLB).

In the bottom of the third inning, Pujols took advantage of a low delivery by left-hander Austin Gomber, reliever for the Colorado Rockies, to hit his 16th “home run” with the “full house.”

According to Baseball Savant, “The Machine” connection clocked an exit speed of 105.1 miles per hour and traveled 374 feet at Busch Stadium.

With this hit from four corners, the 42-year-old veteran baseball player was six homers away from Álex Rodríguez’s record, banned for the use of prohibited substances.

As for RBIs, the native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, drove in five on this day to collect 2,185, the third most behind Henry Aaron (2,297) and Babe Ruth (2,214).

Pujols returned this year to the organization that saw him born in the MLB to play his last season in the “Big Show.”

Adam Wainwright, ace for the Cardinals, scored the win in a game that went down a fairway from start to finish.

In seven innings of work, Wainwright allowed just three hits and struck out seven Rockies batters. Now, the right-hander is 9-8 with a 3.11 ERA.

For his part, the Venezuelan Antonio Senzatela suffered his seventh defeat of the harvest by allowing five runs in one inning and two thirds.
