PSG-Montpellier (5-2): “Neymar is having a magnificent start to the season”, ignites Marco Verratti

A few minutes after the success of PSG at the expense of Montpellier (5-2), the Italian defensive midfielder of PSG Marco Verratti appeared in the mixed zone with a smile on his face after this second card in 2 days, after the one against Clermont (0-5).

How did you experience this evening with this return to the Parc des Princes?

MARCO VERRATTI. It was a pleasure. We had been waiting for this return to the Parc des Princes for a while. We were eager to get back to the championship and show that we were good. It’s already our third game of the season. The public enjoyed seeing a lot of goals. We were efficient and we are happy with the result. We are just a little disappointed to have conceded two goals.

You have scored 10 goals in two league games. What are the solutions to teams playing in low blocks?

Last season, we had difficulties against low defences. Today (this Saturday), we played simple and we played a lot on the sides to find spaces because the Montpellier residents were very close together in the middle of the field. We remained patient, we had many chances including the missed penalty. Their keeper was very strong. We played our game and the opener then allowed us to have more space.

How does Neymar behave internally?

He is very happy. With the players we have, when they are happy, they pass it on to everyone: teammates, the public… For us, they are very important players. We need these great players to be at their maximum. Neymar is having a magnificent start to the season and we are sure that he will continue in this line.

How is your association with Vitinha going in the midfield?

He is a very great player despite his young age. He has a great personality. We are little different. He throws himself a lot, plays without the ball and creates space for others. Vitinha has integrated well and will gradually find even more benchmarks. He is also making a very good start to the season.
