Novak Djokovic will not take part in the US Open, which begins on Monday. The Serb has to do without because of his refusal to be vaccinated. Djokovic’s absence comes as no surprise as authorities in the US require foreign citizens to provide proof of vaccinations.

The 21-time Grand Slam tournament winner categorically rejects vaccination against the corona virus. Because of his attitude, Djokovic is already missing the 2nd Grand Slam tournament this year. In January, he had to leave the country before the start of the tournament at the Australian Open after a posse about his entry.
Djokovic will lose important world ranking points. Last year he reached the final in Flushing Meadows and lost there to Daniil Medvedev. Djokovic is currently in 6th place in the ATP ranking.
