Nafi Thiam starts his European heptathlon: “Without pressure”

A Euro that the Namuroise approaches without pressure. “I’ve always said that the World Cup was my big goal for the season. Afterwards, I wanted to see if the Euros were still possible. I haven’t changed my mind. I feel good. So I’m here. I don’t know if I fully recovered. We’ll see. I continued to maintain my condition. I don’t think it’s possible to be at the top for such a long period. But all the athletes are housed in the same brand. We have never experienced two international meetings so close. I am motivated, but I am taking part in this Euro without pressure.”

Nafi will defend his first title won in 2018, in Berlin. “The atmosphere at the time played a role in my decision to play this Euro. I didn’t want to miss a championship in Germany. There is a culture of athletics, everything is well organized. But it’s not not the main reason for my presence. I am here because I am well.”
