Nine days before the end of the transfer there are three options: is he going? Does he extend? Or is he sitting out the contract?
► Option 1 – Kalajdzic leaves VfB immediately: Ösi wants to go to a bigger club. VfB would also let the fan favorite go for around 25 million euros. But no club was ready to pay the required amount. But as predicted by VfB sports director Sven Mislintat, things seem to get really hot again in the final phase of the transfer.
After Manchester United’s interest has died down, Premier League rivals Wolverhampton are now interested in the two-metre striker. According to BILD information, the national player and his advisor are in contact with the 17th league, but there is still no agreement.
Mislintat Monday evening on “Sky”: “There are now actually the first interests from England, the Wolves are one of them. That’s not really concrete at the moment.”
► Option 2 – Kalajdzic extended: “If we don’t sell him, there is a relatively high chance of extending the contract,” Mislintat said some time ago. With a contract extension of at least one year, VfB will avoid the worst case scenario of having to let their top striker go on a free transfer next summer.
► Option 3 – Kalajdzic stays but does not extend: The most unlikely of all possibilities. Ösi appreciates how VfB supported him during the two serious injuries (torn cruciate ligament and shoulder surgery). Internally, he has announced several times that he does not want to leave VfB on a free transfer.
Transfers in the big leagues are still possible until September 1st. It will not only be a particularly exciting time for Kalajdzic. But also for fellow players Borna Sosa (24)!
According to Sky, the Croatian has reached an oral agreement with Atalanta Bergamo.
sticking point: VfB wants a minimum transfer fee of 20 million euros for Sosa. Atalanta wants to start the negotiations with an offer of twelve million euros plus bonuses.
Another problem: Before Bergamo can buy, the Italians still have to sell players.
