Lille beats Ajaccio and consoles itself for its humiliation against PSG

A week after being swept away by Paris SG (7-1), Lille knew how to react perfectly by clearly dominating Ajaccio (3-1) on Friday in Corsica during the 4e Ligue 1 day.

“The most important thing after the last match was to show that we had the strength to react. Good teams don’t lose twice in a row. These are three important points, we are relaunching “reacted Lille defender José Fonte, at the microphone of Prime Video.

Faced with a tough team from Ajaccio, which has still not won this season in L1, the Northerners have made their technical superiority and their offensive efficiency speak for themselves to win and go back temporarily to 4e place.

Paulo Fonseca’s men’s first goal was magnificent: following a poor Ajaccian recovery, Yusuf Yazici lifted the ball with his right foot before pivoting and a left volley into the small net of Leroy (16e).

Intensity drop

The Corsicans were not discouraged and tried to come back, but they came up against an airtight block, very dense in the axis, the match on Friday confirming their offensive difficulties at the start of the season. And shortly before the break, they were punished with Losc’s second goal, signed Jonathan Bamba after an overflow from Ismaily on the left and a cross from Jonathan David (2-0, 42e).

The Mastiffs then mastered the match, which dropped considerably in intensity. Shortly after the hour mark, Lille still worsened the score via a missile from Tiago Djalo on the second half of a free kick (3-0, 66e).

The Ajacciens then had the merit of hanging on and reducing the score by Bayala with a header (83e), who took advantage of the generosity of a Lille team that had stopped playing. At the very end of the match, LOSC could have increased the score even further, but David’s penalty was pushed back by Leroy’s left post (89e).

“The score is heavy. But we only played against big guys and we manage, we have chances. I am confident for the future”, assured the midfielder of Ajaccio Thomas Mangani. With just one point, his team is currently 18e.
