The Latvian team won with a score of 64:54 (15:14, 11:14, 17:15, 21:11). Evelina Otto stood out for the Latvians with 20 points and 16 rebounds, Annie Brence scored 12 points, and Esther Petrus had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Sohvi Saviniemi had nine points and seven steals for the Finns.
On Wednesday, Latvian cadets won in overtime with 74:72.
It has already been reported that the Latvian U-16 national team played two test matches with the Ukrainian cadets (85:47 and 67:52), but in the Baltic Cup games in Tallinn, the team led by Aināras Čukste defeated the Estonian U-16 first team with 93:72, the hosts second defeated the team with 110:43, and also lost to peers from Lithuania with 73:79 in overtime.
The Latvian team started training in mid-July.
The U-16 national team participated in the women’s basketball league tournament in the 2022 season, winning sixth place in the 11-team competition. At the beginning of January, the Latvian team won the Baltic Sea Cup tournament.
The European U-16 Championship will be held in the Portuguese city of Matusinhos from August 18 to 28. In the Group C tournament, the opponents of the Latvian team will be the teams of Belgium, Poland and Portugal. In the round of 16, they will have to play with one of the teams from group D (France, Czech Republic, Greece, Denmark).
