Judo camp begins this Monday with athletes from various nations

SANTO DOMINGO.- With the participation of more than fifty athletes from various countries in the Americas, an international judo camp will be opened at the Albergue Olímpico, sponsored by Panam Sports, the Pan American Judo Confederation and the Dominican Judo Federation.

The camp will take place from this Monday, August 29 to September 6 next.

The information was offered by Mr. Gilberto García, president of the Dominican Judo Federation and general coordinator of that event.

This camp will serve to identify the projected talents for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Some 60 athletes from the junior category will be participating in the important camp that will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at night, in the facilities of the Olympic hostel.

“Panam Sports has wanted to promote sports talent in the Americas and that is why it has joined the Pan American Judo Confederation in this project,” said García, who is also Secretary General of the Dominican Olympic Committee.

García said that the practices will be carried out in the sports center of the Olympic Hostel and will have as instructors the international technicians Amadeus Dias Moura, Daima Beltrán and Ramón Santiago.

The youth judokas come from Guatemala, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Panama, Paraguay, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

During the camp, medical tests, laboratory tests, body evaluations, among others, will also be carried out.

Garcia said that in addition, talks will be offered with a variety of motivational topics.

“It will be a sporting coexistence that will strengthen the development of youth judokas with a view to their sporting future,” said García, who expresses that this type of activity helps to see the sporting future with optimism.
