Supervised sport for less than one euro an hour to keep the children occupied during the summer holidays: the offer is more than tempting. Thirty years after its creation, the municipal Cité-Sports system continues to appeal to families.
Every day, dozens of 6-16 year olds take part in the activities on offer. By half-day, over a week, a relatively large à la carte choice of disciplines is offered to them. At less than one euro per hour on average, moreover, a very low price.
Kayaking, tennis, tree climbing, rugby…
Some children or adolescents favor the most academic sports such as basketball, handball, tennis, volleyball, football, mountain biking, rugby, athletics, table tennis… Others offer a bit of originality by experimenting with golf, archery, climbing, orienteering, kayaking, petanque, baseball… There are also thrill seekers, who can turn to gliding, horse riding, water skiing, skating, motorcycling, tree climbing…
Finally, the fun aspect is not neglected and the youngest often like to try their hand at fishing, the circus, the “rigol’eau” course, water games… In the end, there is something for everyone.

“We are happy because a lot of young people from the neighborhoods have gone on vacation with their families this year”, adds his assistant Céline Imbert, who feared a drop in the numbers. For the record, 300 participants had been counted in July 2019.
The operation continues at the beginning of August, with 115 young people over two weeks. From Monday, it will be possible to register your child for the period of the last fortnight of the month. Some activities are still crowded this year, but the fastest will be able to reserve their place. Note that in the event of strong heat, the children practice the sport in the shade of the large trees of the parks of the mill with tan or the Ballastière.
