The midfielder of “Liepāja” team of the Latvian Football Premier League Aleksejs Grjaznovs was able to leave the hospital and return home already on Sunday evening, club director Dāvids Jansons confirmed to LETA agency.

On Sunday, Liepājnieki beat “Audu” 1:0 at home, but the victory was overshadowed by the events of the last minutes on the field. At the end of the game, “Audas” midfielder Daniils Ulimbashevs hit “Liepāja” captain Roberta Savalnieks with a very rude lunge. In the sequel, he received a red card and got involved in a conflict with Grjaznov. “Liepāja” footballer Grjaznovs also received the second yellow card in the match for his involvement in the conflict and was dismissed.

However, Grjaznov was unable to leave the stadium on his own and after a short break, during which he was given medical assistance on the side of the field, he was taken to an ambulance stretcher. “Alexei is fine, he was sent home from the hospital yesterday. There was a slight concussion and dizziness,” Janson said.

On Wednesday, when the team returns from the holidays, it will be assessed whether Grjaznov will be able to participate in the next match. Likewise, the team’s doctors are doing everything to be able to go on the field with Savalnieks in the next game. Ulimbashev is expected to serve more than one game suspension for both episodes. As Jansons said, Ulimbashev himself is said to have experienced his rough play at the end of the match.

“Liepāja” will play their next game on Sunday, when they will visit the players of Jurmala “Spartak” in the postponed match of the 21st round. Liepājnieki is in a stable fourth place in the tournament table, losing three points to the first three.
