Graudiņa/Kravčenok wins the second victory in the European championship in beach volleyball

It has already been announced that the Latvian women’s duet won the first match of Group C with 2-0 (21:16, 21:12) over Danes Klara Vindelefi/Sofija Bisgorda (30th) on Tuesday and secured a place in the elimination tournament, while the Finnish women won 2-1 (21:19, 16:21, 19:17) beat the French Lezana Plasset/Alexia Richar (14th).

Today, the second match of the European Championship will also be played by Latvian men’s pair, the 18th-seeded Aleksandrs Samoilovs/Jānis Šmēdiņš, who will compete against the Germans Simon Pfrečner/Filip Huster (31st) in the second match of Group B at 19.00.

In the first match on Tuesday, the Latvian beach volleyball players lost 1-2 (23:21, 22:25, 12:15) to the Poles Piotr Kantor/Macej Rudol (15th) and postponed the fight for the “play-off” to Wednesday, while the Germans with 0 -2 (14:21, 13:21) lost to Dutch champions Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meuvsen (3rd).

In the European Championship, 32 duets are divided into eight subgroups. The winning pairs in both matches will immediately enter the round of 16, but the duos who won one match will start the elimination tournament from the first round, while the championship will be over for the beach volleyball players who lost in both matches.

At last year’s championship held in Vienna, Graudiņa/Kravčenok took fourth place, but Samoilovs/Šmēdiņš and Mārtiņš Pļaviņš/Edgar Točs did not make it past the second round of the “play-off”.
