Graudiņa and Kravčenok win bronze for the Latvian national team in the Nations Cup in beach volleyball

Vienna, Aug. 6, LETA. The Latvian duo Anete Namiķe/Varvara Brailko lost to the Austrian couple in the first battle for third place in the beach volleyball competition of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) Nations Cup in Vienna on Saturday, but Tīna Graudiņa/Anastasija Kravčenok celebrated the victory, and the winners of the third place will be determined in the so-called golden set.

Namiķe/Brailko lost to Dorina and Ronja Klinger with 0-2 (15:21, 12:21).

In the second game, Tina Graudiņa/Anastasija Kravčenok defeated the duet of Katarina Šitzenhöfer/Lena Pleziuchnig 2-0 (21:14, 21:14).

After this match, the so-called golden set was also played to 15 accumulated points, in which Graudiņa and Kravčenok beat Shitzenhöfer and Pleziuchnigu with 15:12.

It has already been reported that in the group Latvian beach volleyball players lost to the Netherlands and defeated Spain, in the quarter-finals they defeated Italy, but in the semi-finals they lost to Switzerland.

The eight best teams of the European ranking – Latvia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic – take part in the competition.

After the fourth places of the group tournament, the tournament was over, the first places immediately entered the semi-finals, while the winners of the second and third places played an additional battle to enter the semi-finals.

The final between Germany and Switzerland will start on Saturday at 17.30 Latvian time.

The Latvian men’s national team did not enter the top eight according to the ranking and did not start in the tournament.
