Glasgow Rangers return to the UEFA Champions League group stage after a 12-year absence

The Glasgow team defeated PSV Eindhoven 1-0 (0-0) in the return match of the “play-off” round and prevailed 3-2 in the sum of two matches.

The only goal was scored in the 60th minute of the game, when after a defensive error by the home team, “Rangers” scored an empty goal and Antonio Čolak scored 1-0 after Malik Tilman’s pass.

Rangers last played in the UEFA Champions League group stage 12 years ago. During this time, the Glasgow club, after bankruptcy, managed to return from the fourth Scottish league to the top division and win the title.

Meanwhile, Croatian champion “Dinamo” Zagreb secured a place in the group tournament in extra time. In regular time, the Zagreb team won 2:1 (2:0) against “Bodo”https://news.google.com/”Glimt”, but the result in the sum of the two matches was a draw 2:2. The duel continued in extra time, in which the hosts scored two more goals and were superior in total (4:2).

In the first half, Mislav Oršič and Bruno Petkovičs scored goals for the “Dinamo” team, but in the second half, Alberts Grenbeks recovered one goal and achieved a draw in the sum of two matches.

The teams came close to taking a series of penalty kicks after the game, but in the 117th minute, three minutes before the end of extra time, Josips Drmičs made it 3:1 for the “Dinamo” team. At the end of extra time, Petars Bočkaj strengthened the lead for the hosts.

Danish champion “Kobenhavn” will also play in the group tournament, which played a goalless draw 0:0 (0:0) with “Trabzonspor” in the return match. The Danes won the duel with 2:1 – the result with which they were superior in the first game.

The losing team will continue their season in the UEFA Europa League group stage. The UEFA Champions League group stage draw will take place on Thursday.
