FC Bayern Munich – Matthijs De Ligt: “The start was total chaos” – FC BAYERN MUNICH

There is also stress on the housing market for a Bayern star…

Matthijs de Ligt (23) revealed in an interview with “De Telegraaf” that he is currently a bit desperate about looking for a house in Munich.

“It’s important to have a house and I don’t have one yet. We had found one, but then it turned out that it wouldn’t be available for another two years. But I don’t want to have a house just to have a house. It has to be the place where we will feel comfortable in the years to come,” he says.

He also adds: “Yes, I’m making it clear that I want to play at Bayern Munich for a long time. Otherwise I would not have signed for five years. It’s just the perfect step in my career at the moment.”

About his start he explains: “Preparation was tough and I can see that I’ve made some progress in terms of fitness. Every coach and every club has its own training philosophy. If you ask your body to do something new, it always takes some getting used to.”

De Ligt moved from Juve to Munich for 67 million euros plus another ten as bonus payments. When the Dutchman landed in the Bavarian capital, his teammates were already on their way to the USA.

The centre-back says: “The start was crazy and a total mess. I flew from Turin to Munich, did the medical check-up during the night, attended the last part of the debriefing the next morning and followed the team to the United States in the afternoon, arriving at 4 a.m. European time. The next day I had to train at 30 degrees and play a game the same evening. In retrospect, that might have been a bit much. I did score a goal, but I was exhausted after ten minutes.”

In the Supercup in Leipzig and at the start of the league in Frankfurt, he was initially on the bench. For him understandable because it is part of the plan. “I feel good in the team, I’m well received and I like the atmosphere where people work hard and don’t complain,” he adds.
