Chelsea have agreed with Leicester on the transfer of Fofana

Wesley Fofana officially joins Chelsea from Leicester City. The French under-21 international, who could become the most expensive defender in history, has signed a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2029…

According to the French “L’Equipe”, the two sides have agreed on a basic fee of 82.5 million euros, which can rise by another five million based on bonuses. Fofana would thus replace Harry Maguire as the most expensive defender, for whom the Foxes received 87 million euros three years ago when he transferred to Manchester United.

In short, even Saint-Étienne, which secured 20% of the resale two years ago, will not come, so they should collect another 9.4 million on the transfer fee of 35 million euros.

Fofana, whose leg fracture slowed him down last season, is leaving Leicester after just 52 games played. In the 2020/21 season, he helped the “Foxes” to win the FA Cup, in the final it was Chelsea who were upset.

The Blues are very active in the transfer market, spending almost 270 million euros on six new players, while Leicester is the only Premier League team that has not yet strengthened. However, that should change, Fofana should be replaced by Wout Faes, for whom Reims should receive 20 million euros.
