BVB: Cologne’s Steffen Baumgart mops with Dortmund – “Pukes on me!” | Sports

Of the BVB has its new clipper – but criticism is now hailing for the timing!

Anthony Modeste (34) will switch to Borussia Dortmund if he passes the medical check. For the Cologne striker pays Borussia Dortmund according to BILD information, five million euros. Modeste receives a one-year contract in Dortmund and is expected to collect 6 million.

BVB is thus reacting to the bad testicular tumor diagnosis from top purchaser Sebastien Haller (28), who will be out for months.

On the day of the match, of all things, the developments surrounding the top scorer (20 goals injured season) picked up speed.

Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart (50) is therefore pissed off: “It pisses me off that something like this comes out on game day of all things. And it didn’t come from us. That puts us in a difficult situation four hours before the game and as a coach I have the arse card. It’s just proper that you keep something like that under the cover and don’t walk around with it in a boastful manner.”

Managing Director Christian Keller (43) also complained: “It annoys me that it picked up speed on the day of the game.”

In the morning there were consistent media reports about the Modeste change. At the same time, both FC and BVB finally made an official statement on an agreement on the transfer in the afternoon.

Cologne tweeted a statement from Keller: “At the request of Tony Modeste, we reached an agreement in principle with BVB this afternoon about his move to BVB. The transfer should be confirmed after the medical check scheduled for tomorrow.” Keller then explained that Modeste was not in the match day squad for this reason either.

Dortmund tweeted a statement from sports director Sebastian Kehl (42): “We reached a verbal agreement in principle with 1. FC Köln about a move from striker Anthony Modeste to BVB. However, the medical examination is currently still pending, as is the clarification of the contract details. As of now, we can therefore not yet report any completion.”

Before the game, Baumgart had already emphasized that he had not included Modeste in the squad because of the upcoming change. When asked if the striker would have accepted this, he told DAZN: “He has to accept that. I didn’t speak to him, I wasn’t in a good mood. That’s why we have Christian. I’ll talk to him on Monday.”

After the game, the man from Cologne looked to the future: “When one door closes, another one opens. We only go our way with players who want to go 100 percent. For some it is now an opportunity. Even if you can’t replace such a player. But we will continue to come from the collective. We’ll take our time to decide whether we’re going to do anything else.”

The 3:1 showed: You can win in Cologne without Modeste…
