Two sides, presumably both made up of South American men, had faced each other, in broad daylight, with bars, clubs and machetes. It was April 23 of this year, in the early afternoon, in front of the entrance to the train station, in the midst of so many people, including tourists. Someone had resumed the violent confrontation, the images had gone viral immediately. But also useful, together with those of the surveillance cameras in the area, to identify the alleged perpetrators of the episode. On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Perugia, the carabinieri of the Perugia company, together with the “Santa Maria di Galeria” dog group, carried out searches at the home of four men, under investigation for the brawl. A part, according to what was reconstructed by the investigators, of the participants in the clash in which between 7 and 8 subjects would have taken part, some of which to be traced.
The searches were aimed at identifying and seizing weapons, clubs and blunt objects, as well as additional elements in confirmation of what was reconstructed during the investigation. A set of images, testimonies, but also of knowledge of the territory and of the subjects who more or less habitually frequent the area where the brawl took place. At the end of the blitz, a baseball bat, blunt objects and clothes were confiscated, which the military personnel recognized from the images seized. The violent episode remains at the moment for no obvious reason. This too will be the subject of the investigation which, at the moment, has made it possible to reconstruct a partial picture. One of the hypotheses is that it was a settlement of scores between opposing groups, perhaps for the control of the territory, perhaps for the management of more or less illicit business. Tracks on which the investigators would be working by adding tiles, faces and names to the “puzzle” of the brawl and any other connected events.
The episode that occurred a few weeks later, with the attack of a couple, he Ecuadorian, she Peruvian, by three other people, two Dominican women and a man, even if a possible link is still to be verified, could strengthen the idea of a certain tension between groups, defined by area or country of origin, which orbit around the station area.
