Blow to the PGA: LIV Golf announces Joaquín Niemann as its great star

It was finally confirmed: Joaquín Niemann is one of the new stars of LIV Golf. After weeks of negotiations (released as an exclusive by El Deportivo on August 12), the social networks of the Saudi super league showed the world that the agreement between the Chilean and the new tour is total.

News that hits the PGA and marks a new step in the career of the national golfer, who at the age of 23 leaves the North American tour with two victories and among the best on the planet. The millions, greater freedom and a new format ended up marking the change of sides of Niemann, who will now have to organize his calendar between the LIV and possibly some dates of the Asian Tour, in order to be able to add units that help him stay in the world ranking, since the new league is not yet considered for that.

In this way, the Chilean bids farewell to the PGA after a season in which he showed his best image as a professional, achieving the victory at the Genesis Invitational, a third place at the Memorial Tournament, a sixth place at the Farmers Insurance and an 11th place at the Tour Championshipthe last event of the year and where only the best 35 golfers of the season compete.

Niemann in this way will receive a check of 100 million dollars for entering the new tour and will debut on the tour this Friday, on the date that takes place in Boston. Chicago (September 16-18), Bangkok (October 7-9), Jeddah (October 14-16) and finally Miami (October 27-30) will follow.

But it doesn’t come alone. The Chilean is just one of the new names that LIV has announced this day, since the signing of five other players was confirmed along with him. The most famous is undoubtedly Cameron Smithcurrent number two in the world and winner of The Open, one of the four majors of the year.

The Australian also shares the profile of the native of Talagante: young players (26 years old), with great current performance and with strong commercial power, a key element for the tour to begin to gain ground on the planet.
