6 injuries and almost 31 missed matches since his arrival in Rennes: bad luck continues Jérémy Doku

Jérémy Doku definitely unlucky. Back on the lawns of Ligue 1 after a season truncated by injuries, the Belgian international had his first tenure with Rennes this weekend. We thought then that his season was launched but his coach Bruno Génésio announced the bad news on Monday: the Red Devil is (already) forfeited for the 5th day of Ligue 1 and the reception of Brest due to muscle discomfort.

Since arriving in Rennes from Anderlecht in October 2020, Doku has not been spared from injuries.

If his first season in Brittany went rather well (30 matches played), the second quickly turned into a real nightmare. Affected in the hamstring, knee or calf, the Devil suffered 5 injuries for 30 missed matches. He has just added a 6th injury and soon a 31st game to his list… Since landing in France, the winger has missed almost as many matches (31) as he has played (59).

His repeated injuries have also prevented him from donning the jersey of the Belgian national team in recent months. His last appearance with the Red Devils dates back to… July 2, 2021. He then impressed the whole world with his dribbling and his speed against Italy in the quarter-finals of the Euro.

According to information from Stade Rennais Online, a big follower of Red and black, Doku would be hit in the quadriceps this time and could be out for about 4 weeks. He would then miss the 2 matches de Nations League, qwhich will take place on 22 (Wales) and 25 September (Netherlands), with the Red Devils.
