Bernat Canut’s Spain U18 beat Finland (63-52) and will play in the semifinals

The Spanish U18 women’s team, coached by Bernat Canut, will play in the semifinals of the European Championship that is being played in Greece, after winning 63 to 53 against Finland. It was a highly contested game that reached the final period with a score of 46-46. The team then took a step forward thanks to the leadership of Elena Buenavida, who scored 11 points in a devastating 13-0 final run. The player was key in the game with 23 total points, along with Carla Brito, who had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. In this way, the team remains undefeated in the tournament, since after signing an unpolluted group phase with three victories out of three (72-71 with Italy, 56-40 with Turkey and 65-37 with Poland) , advanced to the quarterfinals with a 50-43 win over Belgium.

In the semi-finals, which will be held tomorrow, they will be waiting for France, who clearly beat Italy by a comfortable advantage (48 to 71) and are one of the big favorites to take these Europeans. If Canut’s team get a medal, it will be the sixth of the summer for the Spanish teams.
